Oregon Moms Union

School District Captains

At the Oregon Moms Union, our mission is to provide statewide leadership for parent involvement and a student-first education. As an organization, we want to empower parents by helping them find like-minded parents, and providing them with resources to help them advocate for their children's educational needs at the school district level.

We are seeking School District Captains to help connect the Oregon Moms Union with local parents who want to get involved. We’re not just for moms, we welcome all parents, relatives, and guardians who are interested.

School District Captain duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Organize a monthly parent meeting to strategize prior to the monthly school board meeting

  • Promote monthly parent meeting and monthly school board meeting through social media, email and word of mouth

  • Use our contact spreadsheet to help track parent contact information

  • Attend the monthly OMU School District Captain Call

  • Share OMU campaigns and announcements on a rolling basis on social media and email

  • Participate in the monthly network day inviting new members to join the OMU page and group

These duties end up being about 4 hours a month, but can vary from month to month depending on what is going on. We also have several districts with co-captains to help share the workload.
